Job Posting Summary:

Ensworth School seeks an experienced math teacher to join its middle school faculty. The ideal applicant will have three or more years of teaching experience in a variety of middle school math courses and the demonstrated ability to build strong relationships with students and colleagues. The ability to work with students at the regular and advanced levels across the curriculum is highly desired. Strong pedagogical content knowledge and proficiency with educational technology are essential, as is a growth mindset. Above all, the successful applicant will have demonstrated a commitment to the principles expressed in the Ensworth Vision Statement, executing their role with moral integrity, intellectual vitality, discipline, compassion, humor, and joy. 

Key Responsibilities and Essential Functions:

• Abides by Ensworth’s Employee Handbook and Code of Conduct.
• Commits to the ideals expressed in Ensworth’s Mission Statement, Vision Statement, and Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Statement.
• Teaches four classes per semester of middle school math.
• Works to promote and instill Ensworth’s core skills into each student.
• Maintains a classroom environment conducive to learning.
• Serve as an advisor in support of our student life and experiential learning program.
• Integrates technology to support curricular aims and help students effectively achieve their goals.
• Provides continual assessment of student progress and communicates academic performance with the support of the Math Department Chair.
• Works collaboratively with colleagues to develop curricula and plan assessments.
• Supports a diverse group of learners from a variety of backgrounds.
• Employs educational technology that augments and enhances the learning experience.
• Other duties as assigned by the Head of Middle School.

Qualifications/Experience/Personal Attributes:

• Bachelor’s or advanced degree in mathematics or a related field.
• 3 years middle school teaching experience.
• Strong interpersonal communication skills.
• A desire to be a constructive team member.
• A willingness to accept constructive feedback.
• A desire to grow and learn through on-the-job experiences.
• Must successfully complete background screening and verification
• Continued Education Programs (as required by Grade Level and/or position) – Periodically participate in different training sessions identified by you, the employee and/or Divisional Leadership/Supervisor with the goal of keeping our teachers and staff up to date with current teaching methods, practices and any new knowledge in their respective field. Dependent on the program, such training may need to take place outside of normal working hours and/or in the summer months.

Physical Requirements and Work Environment:

• Regularly works in standard and classroom conditions.
• Works at a computer screen for extended periods of time; ability to observe students from various distances.
• Frequently required to move around the classroom; works at a desk for extended periods of time; occasionally moves around campus.
• Ability to occasionally move items weighing up to 30 lbs.
• Occasionally works in a stressful performance environment, effectively dealing with a wide variety of challenges, deadlines, and a varied and diverse array of contacts; stamina to maintain attention to detail despite interruptions.
• Ensworth requires employees to be physically present on campus, with limited exceptions that are at the sole discretion of the School. Under extraordinary circumstances, some or all of the workforce may be required to move to a remote working environment. Additionally, certain individuals may also be approved for limited remote work, based on the nature of the job description, specific circumstances, and only with written prior approval by a direct supervisor.
